Important Messages to Participants

Workshop Venue

Please note that PROCAMS is not located at the LA convention center where SIGGRAPH will be located. PROCAMS is located in Marina Del Rey (about 10 minute drive from the Los Angeles International Airport and 30 minutes from the LA Convention Center). This location was selected because our program includes a tour of the USC-ICT lab which is nearby the Marina Del Rey Hotel.

If you are staying at near the convention center you will need to make arrangements to get from the convention center to the workshop venue. We will be providing a bus service from the LA Convention center to PROCAMS, but seating is limited. See comments below.

(Route from convention center to Marina Del Rey, Route from LAX to Marina Del Rey, Route from workshop to USC-ICT)

Booking a Room at the Venue

If you are unable to book a room at the Workshop Hotel (Marina Del Rey Hotel), there are other hotels nearby, including the Ritz-Carlton-Marina Del Rey, Courtyard-Marina Del Rey, and Ramada Limited Hotel. Also, the Marina Del Rey Hotel webpage currently only allows 3-day bookings, but you can find single night bookings through Expedia or Travelocity.

Staying at the LA Convention Center? Workshop Bus from LA Convention Center

We have arranged for a bus (capacity 50 people) to transfer those staying at the LA convention center to the workshop venue. This bus will be available outside the LA Convention Center at 6:30am, and will leave promptly at 7:15am for Marina Del Rey. Please look for a bus with a sign saying "PROCAMS'08". We apologize that due to limited seating capacity, the bus will be provided on a first-come-first-serve basis. The bus will also be available to return participants back to the Convention Center after the workshop (again seating is limited).

PROCAMS 2008 Overview

Coupling controllable light with light sensing devices facilitates a wide range of applications, including 3D scanning, flexible display walls, novel display interaction, reflectance field capture, optical communication, and artistic creations. While the term "projector-camera" is used, such systems encompass any approach that employs a controllable light-source, from LEDs to an array of light projectors, with a light sensing device, ranging from simple photo-sensors to an array of high-resolution wide-field-of-view cameras.

The PROCAMS workshop series serves as an annual gathering place for researchers and practitioners who use, build, and design projector-camera systems for a wide variety of applications and purposes. The workshop solicits papers, posters, and demo submission on all topics relating to projector-camera systems. For detail more details see Participation tab.

We are also grateful to Prof. Paul Debevec who has graciously offered PROCAMS attendees an open-house tour of the USC ICT graphics lab, where an impressive array of projector-camera systems are being used and developed.

Venue

The workshop will be held at the Marina Del Rey Hotel next to the USC Institute for Creative Technologies, a 10-minute taxi ride from the Los Angeles International Airpoirt (LAX).

We look forward to seeing you in sunny Los Angeles!
