ParticipationA text version of the call for participation is available for download. Online SubmissionPapers should be submitted via the online submission system.ScopeSystems that couple controllable light with light sensing devices facilitate a wide range of applications. Examples include 3D scanning, flexible display walls, novel display interaction, reflectance field capture, optical communication, and artistic creations. While the term "projector-camera system" is used, such systems encompass any approach that employs a controllable light-source, ranging from LEDs to an array of light projectors, with any light sensing device, ranging from a simple photo-sensor to an array of high-resolution wide-field-of-view cameras. The PROCAMS workshop series serves as an annual gathering place for researchers and practitioners who use, build, and design projector-camera systems for a wide variety of applications and purposes. The workshop solicits papers, posters, and demo submissions on all topics relating to projector-camera systems. New for this year, PROCAMS 2008 will be co-located with SIGGRAPH 2008. The workshop will include a keynote presentation by Henry Fuchs (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill) and a tour of the Institute of Creative Technology at the University of Southern California. PROCAMS 2008 invites submissions of three types: technical papers, posters, and demos. Details are given in the sections below. A "best paper award" will be given to the top technical paper selected by the program committee. This year's workshop places emphasis on (but is not limited too) all technical, systems, and theoretical aspects related to projector-camera (light source/sensing) systems used in the following six areas: Scene Capture
Display
Augmentation and Interaction
Mobility
Optical Communication
Art and Aesthetics
Technical Paper SubmissionWe encourage the submission of technical papers for oral presentation. If your paper could be accompanied by a hands-on demonstration, we encourage you to also submit a separate technical demonstration proposal (see below). Paper submissions not accepted for a full oral presentation may be offered the opportunity for a poster presentation. Submissions can be up to 8 pages in length. They should be "camera ready" PDF files (only) with full author names and affiliations (reviews are not blind), prepared in the ACM SIGGRAPH format. Paper submissions will be made via the online submission system. Include supplemental pictures and/or video if appropriate and possible. Videos should be MPEG4 format (DivX 6.0 is encouraged).
FULL PAPER IMPORTANT DATES Note: We will ask authors to commit to personally attend the workshop to present accepted papers, or to arrange for a suitable replacement presenter. Poster SubmissionPosters presentations are intended to describe recently completed work, work in progress, or publicly presentable ideas for unimplemented and/or unusual systems or applications. Posters submissions are limited to 2-pages and should describe innovative and emerging ideas in the area of projector-camera systems. Accepted poster papers will require that at least one author attends the workshop to present the poster in an open poster session. Submissions can be up to 2 pages in length. They should be "camera ready" PDF files (only) with full author names and affiliations (reviews are not blind), prepared in the ACM SIGGRAPH format. Poster submissions will be made by email to: poster@procams2008.org
POSTER IMPORTANT DATES Note: We will ask authors to commit to personally attend the workshop to present accepted posters, or to arrange for a suitable replacement presenter. Technical and Artistic DemonstrationsWe invite proposals for technical and artistic demonstrations during the planned demonstration/exhibit session. Demo sketches are limited to 2-pages and should describe innovative and emerging ideas in the area of projector-camera systems. Accepted demo sketches will require that at least one author/contributor attends the workshop to present the poster in an open poster session. Demo sketch submissions can 1-2 pages in length. They should be "camera ready" PDF files (only) with full author names and affiliations (reviews are not blind), prepared in the ACM SIGGRAPH format.
DEMO IMPORTANT DATES Demo/Artistic submissions will be made by email to: chairs@procams2008.org Note: We will ask authors to commit to personally attend the workshop to present accepted technical or artistic demonstrations, or to arrange for a suitable replacement presenter.
